New Prescription Discount Card Offers Savings to Guilford County Residents

Guilford County residents have an opportunity to obtain a free prescription drug discount card that can save them an average of 20 percent on prescription medicines. Guilford County is offering its residents the Prescription Discount Card in conjunction with the National Association of Counties (NACo) \program.

There is no cost to the county, county taxpayers or consumers to participate in the program. There are no enrollment or membership fees, no age or income requirements, and the card can be used immediately. The entire family is covered with just one card, which may be used any time a prescription is not covered by insurance. There are no medical condition restrictions and no limits on how many times the card may be used. The program even covers prescriptions for pets.

The Prescription Discount Card can also mean savings for adults who are covered by Medicare D and the Medicare prescription drug plan. Any time a prescribed drug is not covered by the Medicare plan, the prescription discount card can be used to save money. The Prescription Discount Card can be used at any participating retail pharmacy, and a national network of more than 59,000 pharmacies honor the card.

Visit http://www.caremark.com/naco to look up a participating pharmacy, a price estimate for your prescription, check drug interactions or read news articles from leading health journals. The program is provided in partnership with Caremark, who negotiates the discounts directly with participating pharmacies.
